Artist’s statement
NONE the series started in late 2016 and continues to expose my feelings into different abstract lines with faces and three primary colours in which each have a meaning but it’s open to interpretation as it’s very close to me. My artwork is originally presented with red, yellow and blue acrylic paint plus black paint for lining and painted on affordable paper. The idea of my work focuses on me and my experiences and feelings which if people see may relate somehow to it in a different way, as most of my work is unnamed and unexplained by choice. Growing up in Peru and learning about the Nazca lines made me very intrigued about lines of any type and my work style is due to that passion I have for line work.
The following works relate to language and language barriers as I came to Australia at 14, knowing basic English and struggled and went through a lot in high school, growing up here.
Candela Ibanez Sanchez is a 24 year old Dental Technology student, currently working in the healthcare industry. Whenever she has more time or bursts of energy (or space) she uses different mediums to create “things”. She don’t like to sweat the small stuff and usually just go with the flow when creating.
Fun Fact: Candela’s username on Instagram and other social media is @picassabarata because one day someone said her art reminded them of “Picasso” somehow. So she thought that was funny, thus deciding to make it as Picassa and barata because it’s like being the cheap version of Picasso. If that makes sense.
